Our 2-Year Workmanship Guarantee

Written in plain language, so you know exactly what we stand behind and what we do not. It costs nothing and it comes with every job.

What it covers

Two years on our labor

This is a workmanship guarantee. For two years from the day we finish, if the paint we applied fails because of how we applied it, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.

On the surfaces we painted, it covers:

  • Peeling or flaking of the coating we applied.
  • Blistering or bubbling of our coating.
  • Loss of color or premature fading beyond what is normal for the product and the exposure.

To make a claim, message us with photos of the affected area any time within the two years. We come out and look at it. If it is our workmanship, we fix it.

What it does not cover

The honest limits

A paint guarantee cannot cover what was wrong with the wall before the paint went on, or what happens to the wall afterwards. These are the exclusions:

  • Pre-existing moisture. If water was already getting into the surface before we painted, a roof or plumbing leak, rising damp, condensation or a failed seal, no coating will hold and this guarantee does not cover that failure. If we see it during the estimate we tell you in writing before you decide.
  • Stains bleeding through from the surface underneath: tannin from wood, smoke, rust, water marks and similar.
  • Dust, chalk, grease or contamination on a surface that was not properly prepared, including when the customer asks us to skip preparation or to paint a surface as it is.
  • Normal wear and tear, scratches, impact damage, or anything a person or a pet does to the wall.
  • Damage from storms, flooding, hail, fire, vandalism, or movement and settlement of the building.
  • Work carried out by someone else after us on the same surface.

The guarantee applies to the customer who hired us, at the address where the work was done.

Why we put this in writing

Because most painters do not

Plenty of companies put “2-year guarantee” on a website with nothing behind it. When something fails, the conversation turns into an argument about what was promised. We would rather have that conversation once, here, before you hire anybody.

It also says something about how we quote. If a wall has a moisture problem, the honest thing is to put it on the estimate instead of painting over it and hoping the guarantee runs out first. That is why our estimates list preparation as its own line.

Any questions about the guarantee?

Ask before you hire us, not after. We would rather explain it twice than have you assume something we did not say.
